Handmade statement rustic sideboard cabinet

 

This handmade statement rustic sideboard was created as a one off statement piece of furniture for the clients living room.

It was built completely with reclaimed softwood. Its surface was rusticated using a wire brush machine to open up the grain, this creates a driftwood effect.

The piece was then painted and distressed. The handles are hand made polished stones collected by the client from the beach near their seaside home.

The brief for the design was to create a large, hand made, rustic, statement sideboard, with a seaside aesthetic. The client wanted it to have the rustic charm of timber that had been exposed to the elements.

Despite its rustic aesthetic it features blum soft close drawer runners and soft close door hinges to make it a very functional piece of furniture.
